Freedive with Blue Whales in Timor Leste

Freedive with the largest animal that has ever existed on Earth!

Can you imagine a 24m long, 90 tonne, gentle giant of the sea cruising past you in the open ocean?! Only a very small percentage of people in the world have had the opportunity to see a Blue Whale and an ever smaller percentage have been lucky enough to be in the water with one.

Every year during October and November, Pygmy Blue Whales migrate through the Strait of Ombai and Wetar in the waters of Timor Leste, known as a marine super highway. Timor Leste is a sanctuary for marine life. It has the highest diversity of cetaceans, fish species and coral species anywhere on Earth and has some of the best diving and snorkeling on the planet. These waters are also known for ‘super pods’ of dolphins where it is not uncommon to see pods of a thousand dolphins!

For 7 days we will be cruising on this marine super highway, freediving with Blue Whales and many other whale species including beaked, humpback, sperm, killer, short-finned pilot, melon-headed whales and many dolphin species. We will also visit the world famous Atauro Island for line diving, snorkeling and lots of epic photos.

We will have 2 private boats to explore the waters with a whale guide, whale spotter and local captain on each boat. We have teamed up with one of the leading tour operators involved with the Marine Tourism Association of Timor Leste who are certified Responsible Whale Tour Operators. This trip is strictly limited to 8 guests. Accommodation and airport transfers are included in the price.

Just enjoyed the hell out of a 4-day liveaboard freediving trip in the Whitsundays! Excellent instructors, super laid back, supportive and professional, plus an awesome yacht/kitchen crew to match. I went by myself and quickly made about 20 great friends. Highly recommend for all levels of diving experience, including total newbies.

I recently went on Freediving Central's 4-day boat trip around the Whitsundays and can't recommend Dan and the team enough! It was my first time freediving and I'm hooked! The group was a mix of experienced and beginners and they catered to everyone's levels so well, so everyone was reaching their own goals whilst enjoying themselves. Went on the Freediving sailing trip in June with Freediving Central and had the most amazing experience. Dan, Kate and Shazzy did an awesome job teaching Freediving to everyone, from all levels.
