Terms & Conditions

GENERAL (applies to Courses, Australian Trips & Overseas Trips)

  • The deposit amount must be paid at time of booking to secure your spot.
  • All deposits are non-refundable.
  • Once booked on a trip, you must comply with the Payment Schedule detailed in the information pack, digital flyer, or confirmation email provided by Freediving Central.
  • 2nd and 3rd instalments are non-refundable once paid, except where a transfer is approved — in which case amounts already paid may be applied toward the new trip date (subject to approval; deposit not included and must be paid again for the new booking).
  • If any Payment Schedule instalment remains outstanding past its due date, Freediving Central may still be required to pay operator or venue costs on the participant’s behalf. In this case, the outstanding balance remains payable regardless of whether the spot is later resold or transferred.
  • All prices are quoted in Australian dollars (AUD) and are inclusive of GST unless otherwise specified. Freediving Central does not negotiate prices.
  • Course and training dive packages must be paid for upfront, with 12 months to use them. All other Terms and Conditions apply to course/training packages.
  • If a vendor raises their prices while you are booked on a trip, Freediving Central reserves the right to adjust prices to match.
  • Freediving Central reserves the right to cancel or postpone a course, training dive, trip, or any activity at any time, including if minimum required numbers have not been met, weather conditions are not suitable, or if Freediving Central deems conditions are not safe to proceed for any reason.
  • If Freediving Central cancels or postpones an activity, alternate dates will be provided. If those alternative dates are also cancelled or postponed, further alternative dates will be provided. The course or trip must be completed within 1 year of the original booking date.
  • Freediving Central retains the right to change the planned course, trip, or diving location if conditions are deemed unsuitable or unsafe. If the participant chooses not to proceed under the new arrangement, no refund will be offered, and the deposit cannot be applied to another date.
  • Freediving Central has the right to make changes to trips, retreats, or camps, including locations, accommodation, special guests, group sizes, and price.
  • It is your responsibility to get to the location of the course/trip/retreat/camp.
  • Freediving Central will not pay for flights, taxis, or transfers unless otherwise specified.
  • Participants are responsible for ensuring they meet all travel requirements, including passports, visas, travel insurance, and medical requirements. Freediving Central is not responsible for costs or losses resulting from failure to meet these requirements.
  • We highly recommend you purchase travel insurance at the time of booking.
  • For trips where travel, accommodation, or food costs are split among the group, all participants share these costs equally. This includes any fines (e.g. speeding, parking) or transport costs arising at any time after the trip concludes.
  • Freediving Central cannot guarantee marine life sightings, visibility conditions, or specific environmental experiences, as these are natural and unpredictable.

FREEDIVING COURSES (Level 1, 2, 3 & Instructor Courses)

  • Cancellation is not possible due to change of mind or personal circumstances.
  • If a student or participant wants to reschedule their course date, they must provide Freediving Central with at least one month’s notice in writing to info@freedivingcentral.com. You will have 12 months from your original course date to attend another course. It is your responsibility to monitor this 12-month window and book within it, if you wait until the final month and Freediving Central has no availability, or cancels/postpones, you risk losing amounts paid.
    • Rescheduling within one month of your course date: $100 rebooking fee (charged each time you reschedule within this period).
    • Rescheduling within the final week of your course date: $200 rebooking fee (charged each time you reschedule within this period).
  • If you become unwell during a course, or are otherwise unable to complete its practical requirements, no refund will be given.
  • Certification is not guaranteed upon course completion, at any level (Level 1, 2, 3, or Instructor). Certification is subject to the participant satisfactorily meeting all criteria, requirements, and performance standards assessed during the course. No refund will be given if a student does not qualify for certification.

TRIPS WITHIN AUSTRALIA

  • The full trip amount must be paid at least 8 weeks prior to commencement, unless otherwise specified in the Payment Schedule.
  • If you cancel with 8+ weeks’ notice, in writing to info@freedivingcentral.com: Freediving Central may refund amounts paid minus the non-refundable deposit.
  • If you cancel with less than 8 weeks’ notice: no refund will be given. Instead, a participant may request to transfer their spot to an alternative trip date, subject to Freediving Central’s approval, not guaranteed, and considered on a discretionary, case-by-case basis.

OVERSEAS TRIPS

  • The full trip amount must be paid at least 10 weeks prior to commencement, unless otherwise specified in the Payment Schedule.
  • If you cancel with 10+ weeks’ notice, in writing to info@freedivingcentral.com: Freediving Central will do all things necessary to advertise your spot. If filled, amounts paid may be refunded minus the non-refundable deposit. A refund is not guaranteed and is conditional on the spot being resold.
  • If you cancel with less than 10 weeks’ notice: no refund will be given. Rescheduling or transfer requests in this window are subject to discussion and Freediving Central’s discretion.
  • Transfers (as an alternative to a refund): instead of a refund, a participant may request to transfer amounts already paid (minus deposit) to an alternative Freediving Central trip. This is considered independently of whether the original spot is resold, subject to approval, and not guaranteed. Approved transfers must be to a trip within 12 months of the original date, unless Freediving Central agrees to extend this at its discretion.

GEAR HIRE & LOAN

  • If you hire or borrow gear from Freediving Central, you must notify us at least one week prior to course commencement so we can allocate sizes to you. If no suitable size is available, Freediving Central will advise of any alternative option.
  • Any gear hire fees must be paid for at least one week prior to course commencement.
  • Any gear hired, borrowed, or otherwise used must be returned in the same condition it was given, by the agreed return date.
  • Freediving Central regularly checks our gear to ensure it is in good condition and safe for student use. If gear is damaged, broken, or lost outside of reasonable wear and tear, you will be liable for the cost of repair or replacement, regardless of whether the gear was hired or loaned free of charge. This payment must be made within 7 days of Freediving Central confirming the amount owed.
  • If gear is not returned by the agreed time, additional daily charges apply until it is returned. If returning by post, we recommend Registered Post.
  • You are not entitled to a refund for any unused equipment or gear that was hired from Freediving Central.

GIFT VOUCHERS

  • Gift Vouchers must be used within 12 months of the purchase date and are not exchangeable for cash.
  • All other Terms and Conditions apply to bookings made using Gift Vouchers.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

  • You are required to complete the Liability Release Form and Medical Questionnaire Form before each individual course, training dive, trip, or service you participate in with Freediving Central. These must be completed and provided at least 24 hours prior to the activity’s commencement.
  • If you answer “yes” to any Medical Questionnaire question, or a medical condition is noted, it is your responsibility to seek medical advice and clearance from a doctor prior to activity commencement.
  • In some instances, Freediving Central may request Medical Clearance from a medical practitioner before you can proceed with a course or activity.
  • Freediving Central staff are not medical practitioners and do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or instructions. You are responsible for seeking independent medical advice regarding your own circumstances.
  • If you fail to gain medical clearance for a condition temporarily preventing participation, you will be required to reschedule at your own expense, per the normal rescheduling conditions.
  • If you fail to gain medical clearance for a condition permanently preventing participation, you will be entitled to a refund minus the non-refundable deposit, as long as it is within the payment due dates.
  • You confirm you can swim at least 100m in open water without assistance, and that you have sufficient confidence, comfort, and competency in open water environments, including safe independent entry and exit ability.
  • You understand ocean conditions may include depth, swell, currents, limited visibility, and other factors. Freediving Central instructors may restrict or end your participation if your swimming ability, confidence, or in-water competency is insufficient, or if continuing poses a safety risk to you or others. No refunds or future ocean session access will be provided, except where alternative Pool Sessions are offered instead. Returning to ocean diving requires instructor sign-off and may incur additional costs. Pool Sessions are offered at Freediving Central’s discretion; if offered, you’ll receive a decision within 2 business days. You may decline, but doing so forfeits future ocean sessions with no refund.
  • Leaving a session early for any reason results in forfeiture of all remaining sessions in your course booking, unless explicitly approved by Freediving Central. Rescheduling requests must be emailed to info@freedivingcentral.com within 24 hours of the session in question. You will receive a decision within 2 business days. Requests submitted after 24 hours will not be considered.
