Freediving on the Central Coast should feel calm, capable and fun, not like a test. Our courses give complete beginners and progressing freedivers a clear path to build breath-hold skills, equalisation, safety awareness and confidence in the water at their own pace.
Level 1 courses use Mingara Aquatic Centre for the pool component before heading to Terrigal Haven for open-water training, including a boat dive. Level 2 continues the progression with deeper technique work and additional open-water sessions around Terrigal.
The approach is deliberately low-pressure. Recent feedback repeatedly points to patient instruction, plenty of water time and a relaxed group atmosphere where divers can focus on good technique rather than chasing numbers.

Our Central Coast courses are based around Terrigal. Day one theory and pool work runs at Mingara Aquatic Centre, where you build your breathing, relaxation and equalisation in calm, controlled water. Day two moves into the ocean at Terrigal Haven, with a shore dive in the sheltered haven followed by a boat dive, so you finish your course having dived both.
Depth training runs on Sundays out of Terrigal, so you can keep progressing after your course. The morning session is a shore dive at Terrigal Haven, 8.30am to 10.30am, with up to 12 metres of line for relaxed technique work. From 11am to 1pm, a boat dive on the HMAS Adelaide wreck gives you up to 38 metres for serious depth (boat transport is an extra $80).
Every course includes your gear: mask, snorkel, freediving fins, weight belt and weights. Wetsuits are available for hire with a $40 cleaning fee. Payment plans are available on all courses, and we take group and corporate bookings if you would rather learn alongside people you already know.

A freediving course is easier to stick with when there are people to dive with afterwards. Freediving Central’s community brings together past students, training-session regulars and social divers who want to keep learning, practise safely and spend more time in the water.
On the Central Coast, that means a local network around Terrigal where divers can meet buddies, ask questions, share progress and keep building confidence after certification. The same relaxed, supportive feel that shows up in course feedback carries into the wider community too.
For many students, the course is simply the first weekend. The real value is leaving with safer habits, better technique and people to keep diving with.
