When Depth Matters and When It Doesn’t
Most of our beginner-friendly trips include freediving training and certification as part of the package. That means you can arrive having never dived before and learn the foundations on the trip itself. There is no depth you need to hit beforehand to be welcome.
The results speak to this. On these trips, divers regularly start at around 5 metres and reach personal bests by the end of the week, simply by progressing gradually with coaching. The depth comes from relaxed, well-taught technique, not from anything you needed to prove before arriving.
Marine encounter trips, such as swimming with whales or seals, are often snorkel-based at the surface. These are accessible to almost anyone comfortable in the water, since the magic happens near the top rather than at depth.
That said, a small number of trips are pitched at more experienced divers or involve deeper, more demanding diving. For those, there may be a recommended experience level or depth, so always read the individual trip details. If you are unsure where you fit, it is best to be honest about your experience so the team can place you on the right trip.
