What Level 1 Gives You Before a Trip
Level 1 gives you the foundation you need to start enjoying freediving properly. You learn how to breathe up, relax, equalise, duck dive, move efficiently, and dive with a buddy. That is the stuff that matters most on a trip.
A good freediving trip is not about showing off or chasing numbers. It is about being in beautiful water, diving within your comfort zone, and learning as you go. Some people are there to work on depth, some are there for reef dives, wildlife, warm water, and a bit of adventure. Both are completely fine.
If you have only done Level 1, the main thing is choosing a trip where you will be guided properly. You want instructors who understand your level, keep things relaxed, and help you build confidence day by day. That way, the trip becomes fun and steady rather than stressful.
Most Level 1 divers are surprised by how much they can enjoy a trip without needing to be “advanced”. Once you are in calm water with good people, lots of laughs, and no pressure to perform, you usually settle in pretty quickly.
