QUESTION

What Happens in the Pool Session vs Open Water Session?

The pool session is usually where beginner freedivers learn the basics in a calm, controlled setting, while the open water session is where those same skills start to make sense in a real diving environment. Both are guided, supportive, and beginner-friendly, but they each give you something a little different.

How Each Session Helps You Settle In

In the pool, everything feels simple and low-pressure. It is a great place to work on breathing, body position, relaxation, and getting comfortable holding your breath without worrying about waves, depth, or the ocean around you. Open water is where it starts to feel more like actual freediving, but still in a very supported way. You get to apply the same calm skills in the sea, learn how to stay relaxed in a new environment, and build trust in yourself step by step. For most people, the pool builds confidence, and open water brings the magic.
