What a Level 1 Course Actually Covers
The course is built around a progression, not a single skill. You start with theory covering safety, physiology, and equalisation, move into pool sessions to build technique and comfort, then apply it all in open water with an instructor alongside you.
Certification is issued through a globally recognised education system, either SSI or Molchanovs depending on the course, so the qualification carries weight wherever you dive afterwards. That is the outcome the whole course is structured around, not just a certificate for finishing a weekend.
Gear is one of the more practical things people ask about before booking, so it is worth being specific. Mask, snorkel, fins, and a weight belt are included in the course price, and wetsuit hire is available too, with a small cleaning fee that applies to hired wetsuits.
Pace is personalised rather than fixed. Instructors work with each person’s comfort level in the water, so someone progressing quickly and someone who needs longer in the shallows can complete the same course without either feeling rushed or held back.
