Hey team, Dan Parsons here, owner of Freediving Central.
I want to take you through one of my absolute favourite trips we run: our freediving and yoga adventure trip in Fiji.
Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned diver looking for a training escape, this trip has something for everyone.
And trust me, once you have experienced it, you will be booking your return before you have even unpacked.
What is the Freediving Central Yasawa Islands trip?

Our Yasawa Islands freediving trip is a 4-night, 5-day all-inclusive adventure based on a private island in Fiji.
Just 3.5 hours from Sydney by air and a 1.5-hour boat ride from Port Denarau, this trip combines world-class freediving with breathtaking tropical scenery, incredible food, and the kind of sunsets that will genuinely stop you in your tracks.
It is the perfect destination for first-time freedivers and experienced divers alike.
The perfect location to learn to freedive
If you have been searching for the ideal place to complete your Level 1 / Wave 1 freediving course, look no further.
The Yasawa Islands offer crystal clear water, toasty warm conditions, and easy access to 25 m depth right off the shore.
Conditions like these are genuinely rare, and it makes learning to freedive here an absolute dream.
The location is also perfect for divers looking to progress.
We run Level 2 / Wave 2 and Level 3 / Wave 3 courses on the trip, and we regularly welcome experienced freedivers and instructors who come along purely for the training environment and some well-deserved R&R.
Getting there: easier than you think

Fiji often feels like a far-away dream, but it is surprisingly accessible.
From Sydney, you are looking at a 3.5-hour flight.
From Fiji’s Port Denarau, it is a 1.5-hour boat ride out to our private island.
Yes, a private island.
We are not talking about sharing a resort with hundreds of strangers.
This is our own slice of paradise.
Accommodation: something for everyone
Like all of our freediving trips, we do our best to accommodate the everyday traveller and those who are after a more boutique experience.
Options include:
· Absolute luxury beachfront villas
· Five-star glamping tents
· Dorm-style accommodation for the budget-conscious adventurer
Whatever your style or budget, we have got you covered.
The food: an all-inclusive experience worth writing home about
From the moment we arrive on the island, it is all-inclusive.
And when we say the food is incredible, we genuinely mean it.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served on the island, and the kitchen team consistently delivers meals that will leave you and your taste buds fully satisfied.
All dietary requirements are catered for, so no one misses out.
What does a typical day look like?
The first four days are packed with freediving training sessions, exploration, and those magical island moments that are hard to put into words.
Here is a taste of what to expect:
· 6am sunrise hikes for the early risers
· Morning and afternoon freediving sessions at a range of stunning reef locations
· Sunset walks over the hill with a cold drink in hand
· Long, relaxed dinners with new friends
Each day we find a new location to dive, which keeps things fresh and exciting throughout the trip.
If you are new to the sport and want to build confidence before travelling, our Try Freediving course is a great way to experience the basics before committing to a bigger adventure.
Freediving with reef sharks: yes, really

One of the most talked-about highlights of this trip is the reef shark encounters during our freediving sessions.
We regularly find ourselves in the water alongside blacktip reef sharks and whitetip reef sharks, and they are every bit as curious as they are beautiful.
It is important to know that these sharks are completely harmless to people.
They are simply inquisitive by nature.
But sharing the water with them creates a dive scene that is genuinely hard to top.
Guests are consistently blown away by the experience.
For divers who love marine life encounters, this trip sits alongside some of our other unforgettable ocean adventures, including our humpback whale trip in Tonga and Baja Mexico adventure trip.
The bucket list experience: diving with bull sharks

On the final day of the trip, we arrange the bucket list adventure, the one that people talk about for years.
We are talking about diving with bull sharks.
And yes, it is completely optional.
Here is what makes this so special: you do not need to be a certified scuba diver to do it.
This is one of the only places in the world where you can do an introduction to scuba experience and be guided safely through a bull shark dive from start to finish.
As extreme as it sounds, this activity is incredibly safe.
The team on the island has been running the same shark dive, at the same time, in the same way, with the same number of staff, every single day for the past 10 years.
It is like clockwork, and the bull sharks know the routine just as well as the dive team does.
Being up close with 2.5 to 3-metre bull sharks in all their glory is a truly humbling experience.
Every single person who has completed this dive has come back to the boat feeling the same thing: completely safe, completely in awe.
Is this trip right for you?

Whether you are an absolute beginner wanting to complete your first freediving course, an intermediate diver ready to level up, or an experienced freediver chasing an unforgettable training environment, this trip delivers.
Combine world-class freediving instruction, a private island, incredible food, reef sharks, and a bull shark dive on the last day, and you have got one of the most special adventures we offer.
It is not your average freediving trip.
And we love it for that.
